The 16th Atlanta Writers Conference is happening on May 12-13, 2017! And I am happy to announce that I will be one of the speakers.
I’ve got a full lineup for you Southern writers. For one thing, I will be presenting “How to Write a Winning Book Proposal” and “Choosing the Right Editorial Service for You.” I’m also doing a more interactive workshop version of my popular talk, “Polishing Your Work for Publication.” This is something new that I think will be a lot of fun, so I hope you’ll join me.
The interactive workshop will introduce you to the most common problems plaguing written works and offer simple ways to identify and resolve them in your own novel, short story, or memoir. You’ll receive tips on improving your work to keep readers’ attention, polishing your manuscript at the technical level, and getting objective feedback before you submit or go to press. Be sure to bring your laptop and manuscript file or printed draft–this is a “working” workshop!
This workshop is for those following the traditional publishing route who want to avoid rejection due to mistakes in their manuscripts as well as those who will self-publish their work but don’t want to put error-filled books on the market and damage their reputation with readers. Writers at all levels will benefit. If you’re working on your first manuscript or if you’ve already published several books and want to become more efficient and effective in your revisions, this workshop is for you.
Still not sure you want to attend? How about a few more highlights of the conference:
- One-on-one manuscript critique sessions
- Pitch sessions
- Query letter critique
