I was super excited to be leading a webinar for members of the Association of Publishers for Special Sales last November as part of the organization’s ongoing series. The webinar was free.
I spoke to the APSS crowd about a topic that’s close to any self- or small-publisher’s heart: How to make sure your manuscript is absolutely ready for publication. I called the presentation, “Polishing Your Work for Publication.” This talk introduced to the participants the most common problems that plague written works and offered simple ways to identify and resolve them in their own manuscripts. They received tips on improving their work to keep readers’ attention, polishing their manuscript at the technical level, and getting objective feedback before they submit or go to press.
Ally presents her webinar material in a logical and user-friendly format. She’s simultaneously professional and approachable. As a writer, I particularly enjoyed her presentation; as an editor and proofreader, I welcomed her perspectives on style and word usage. And her recommendations for manuscript polishing were spot on! – Rita Reali, Author
Informative, well organized and interesting. – Jeanne Rogers, Award Winning Author
Helpful, clear, and good reminders. I appreciated the handout too, something to remind me when the revisions begin. – Judith Dreyer, Speaker and Writer
Ally Machate’s practical formulas for better writing are succinct, yet invaluable to anyone seeking to publish. With years of experience, she zeroes in on the most common beginners’ mistakes and bad habits, and any writer of fiction or non-fiction can benefit from posting this list next to their computer. – Carl Olson, Speaker and Author
The webinar was live on November 17, 6-7:30pm EST.
