Communication Central hosted its 9th Annual “Build Your Business” Conference during the last weekend of September, and I was thrilled to be invited once again. The conference offers a unique opportunity to join my respected colleagues in Rochester, New York as we explore all aspects of a successful freelance editorial career.
This year, the conference theme was “Be a Better Freelancer! (Re)Inventing Your Business) and there were many valuable presentations and panels offering insights on the business and promotional sides of freelance as well as balancing your efforts to run an efficient business and live an organized life. After introducing my “Self-Publishing from Both Sides” presentation in Rochester last year, I was pleased to be included on the “Self-publishing Super Summit” panel this year along with Greg Ionannou, Dick Margulis, and Jack Lyon.
On Saturday, our panel had a lively discussion about self-publishing from multiple angles, including the perspectives of authors, editors finding authors, and publishing options. Our presentation was standing room only and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved.
I want to personally thank Ruth Thaler-Carter, the host and organizer of Communication Central’s annual conference, a consistently valuable event for entrepreneurial communicators to hone their editorial skills or to learn more about the freelance lifestyle in a two-track event. I hope to see you there next September!
