Our very own Harrison Demchick will be visiting with the Atlanta Writers Club on September 30th, 2017.
Any aspiring author knows, or learns fast, how difficult it is to complete a manuscript. But it can be easy to overlook the equal challenges–or perhaps even greater challenges–that follow in the course of revision. In “Everything Could Possibly Go Wrong: An Odd but Practical Journey through the Art of Revision,” developmental editor, author, and screenwriter Harrison Demchick will explore the revision process and several of the most common issues found in first drafts, from conflict and characterization to logic and specific detail. The talk will help you determine for your own manuscript what is working, and what is not—and not only what is not working, but why specifically it may not be working and how you can make it better. And it will explain why, even with all the time and stress that come with it, the revision process is work well worth doing.
Harrison Demchick came up in the world of small press publishing, working along the way on more than two dozen published novels and memoirs, several of which have been optioned for film. He is an award-winning, twice-optioned screenwriter, and the author of literary horror novel The Listeners. He’s part of The Writer’s Ally team as a developmental editor of fiction and memoir, for which he’s currently accepting new clients.
